Peningkatan Literasi Ekonomi dan Kesehatan Lingkungan Melalui Edukasi Pengelolaan Sampah di Sekolah Yayasan Bina Agro Minang

Abstrak

This community service program was conducted by the Politeknik Pelayaran Sumatera Barat with the aim of increasing the knowledge of elementary and junior high school students at Yayasan Bina Agro Minang regarding proper waste management practices. The main issue addressed in this activity was the students’ low awareness of waste management at school, which affected environmental cleanliness and health. The program was implemented through a health education approach involving interactive discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and the distribution of door prizes to encourage participation. The materials delivered included the definition of waste, the distinction between organic and inorganic waste, and the application of the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) in daily life. The results showed an improvement in students’ understanding of the importance of maintaining school cleanliness and their awareness of proper waste disposal. The program received positive responses from the school, which expressed interest in continuing similar activities in the future. Overall, this activity had a positive impact on fostering environmentally responsible behavior from an early age and is expected to serve as a foundation for creating a generation that values sustainable waste management.
