This study examines the role of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) as an independent institution responsible for regulation, supervision, and investigation within Indonesia’s financial services sector. The discussion focuses on two categories of legal cases involving OJK: civil and criminal cases. In the civil domain, the analysis includes disputes related to administrative sanctions, alleged supervisory negligence, and licensing issues, illustrated by the revocation of PT Sejahtera Pertama Multifinance’s business license due to violations of financing and financial health regulations. In the criminal domain, the study highlights offenses such as fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, and market manipulation, including the investment fraud case involving PT Hanson International Tbk, which centered on manipulated financial reporting and illegal investment practices. The findings emphasize OJK’s strategic role in maintaining financial sector stability and integrity through strengthened supervision, law enforcement, and consumer protection.
