The development of sports facilities within shopping centers represents a strategic innovation to address the increasingly busy lifestyle of urban communities who lack sufficient time for physical activity. This study aims to analyze public preferences regarding the planned construction of a Sport Center at Thamrin Plaza Medan. The community engagement activity was conducted through a survey involving 1,040 respondents, consisting of students, university participants, and local residents, using a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were analyzed through tabulation and visualization using descriptive statistics, supported by Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) to map public perceptions of desired sports facilities. The results revealed that 70.6% of respondents prefer indoor sports, with the highest interest in futsal (43%) and badminton (39.6%) facilities. Most respondents also expressed willingness to pay between Rp50,000 and Rp100,000 per session. These findings indicate high economic and social potential for developing the Sport Center within the mall area. The existence of such a facility is expected to enhance community well-being, promote healthy lifestyles, and expand the social function of malls as modern public activity centers.Diterbitkan
