Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Sharia principles in fund-raising activities within Islamic banks and its effect on customer trust. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach based on literature review and secondary data from journals, regulatory texts, and institutional reports, the research identifies key Sharia compliance features in deposit products (e.g., wadiah and mudharabah), the role of the Sharia Supervisory Board, and transparency practices in profit-sharing disclosures. The findings indicate that consistent application of Sharia principles—characterized by the avoidance of riba, clear contractual terms, equitable profit-sharing, and active Sharia supervision-positively influences customer trust by enhancing perceived religiosity, legal certainty, and service reliability. The study concludes that strengthening Sharia governance and improving communication about Sharia-compliant mechanisms are critical to increasing customer confidence and sustaining deposit growth in Islamic banking. Implications for practitioners and suggestions for future empirical testing are discussed..
